Scary, Really Scary

The UK has taken major steps to relax the laws of reproduction. You can read the write-up here.

Two of the revisions are quite shocking, well, to me anyway.

1. Perspective mothers looking to get impregnated will no longer require a father figure to help raise the child. This obviously will have a great impact on culture, with an increase in children raised by single mothers, and by same-sex couples.

2. The refinement in the law allows the creation of Frankenstein embryos. What does this mean? It means that scientists can create new forms of life by combining human and animal DNA. That's right, in the name of science, discovery, and curing disease, scientists can now create completely new forms of life. Playing with life like this does not sit well for me. It conjurs back to "The Island of Dr. Moreau".

But perhaps shockingly, these kind of chimera experiments as they're called, are wll underway in the US, China, and other countries. The Chinese fused human cells with rabbit eggs, the Mayo Clinic created pigs with human blood, and Stanford was scheduled to build mice with human brains. Read more about the debate here.

The goal of course is to build an alternative lifeform, one which would grow human organs. Or perhaps stronger human with low intelligence for hard labor jobs. Skies the limit really. Anything is possible. And that's the scary part - where else does this lead? What else is capable? How are we altering our own future? I guess we'll find out.

A new Mickey Mouse like character for a children's show in Palestine. It harkens it the glory days when Islam had rule over Spain and Portugal. Aren't the Jews lucky that they live in such a great time with Islam. And aren't the Christians lucky for all that Islam has done for them. Let us celebrate, because the day will come when Islam rules the world once again.

And it's all aimed at children. And there's something very strange about taking an American creation, Mickey Mouse, and using it to promote the future destiny of Islam.

Dog

Our family is currently discussing the purchase of a new dog. But not just any dog - a tiny dog. In fact, a permanently tiny dog. Teacup terriers or micro puppies as they are sometimes called. These dogs weigh about 1.6 oz's when you buy them, and can cost up to $3200.00! That's just under $2K per ounce. They are roughly the size of a soda can (see below).

I've always wanted a dog. A REAL DOG mind you, not a hamster.

Let me tell you a little tale.
In junior high and high school, I LOVED music, and dreamed of going to a rock concert. But alas, I was never allowed to go. My senior year in high school, I went to my very first concert - but it was with my girlfriend, and it was Richard Marx.

That's right, I said it - Richard F'ing Marx. Dreaming for years of going to see Metallica, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Van Halen, or Iron Maiden, and the first one I get - Richard Marx.

So, now we're back to the dog. Years of dreaming about getting a dog - a big dog - a boxer, or a labrador, a bulldog; and now, possibly getting a dog that could be carried away by a small pigeon.

I'm not sure what's going to happen. Having a dog would be fun. We'll see. We'll probably get it.

I've asked if the dog comes with a little handbag for carrying - Paris Hilton-esque. Preferably one that has sparkles on it. That would make me look really rad at all the soccer games. Still looking into that.

However, I did confirm that they will send a tool for removing my testicles.
