I took the
Nerd? Geek? Dork? test ...I think the fact that I even TOOK the test is testament enough to my dork-factor.
PURE NERD
65 % Nerd, 30% Geek, 17% Dork
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
It's funny, growing up, I always loved learning, school and academia and I never felt like it was something I had to hide or I wouldn't be popular, or that people wouldn't like me. Or that liking knowledge and learning was an automatic entree into dorkdom...is it really that way anymore? It wasn't really that way for me, or my friends, and I had plenty of smart friends who were also charming and good looking and fun. I guess I don't get why the two (popularity/social acceptance and smarts) are historically mutually exclusive. I hope for my girls sake that they aren't, because there will be nerd requirements around these parts, and if that means they don't get to be homecoming princess, well, that's the price you pay for getting into a good college.
Go take the test and tell me if you're a geek! Thanks to Pam.

Man, I'm Joe Normal. You can't even categorize me into one of these areas. Here are my stats. So far, I'm the dorkiest - which shouldn't be a shock to anyone. And Wyatt is a bigger Geek than I am; who knew! Everyone is nerdier than I am too, which I guess makes me the stupid one of the bunch!

Modern, Cool Nerd (and PROUD!..LOL)

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!
Congratulations!

I'm almost a nerd. That surprised me. I think what I have is natural curiosty more than brains. It's fun being curious. It's like a mission.
